Poster Children are a band that lasted for a long time and maybe that’s the good thing about being in a band with your brother and wife (or sister-in-law whatever the case may be). Just listen to “Drug I Need” and tell me that it’s not amazing. Tell me that it’s not the song that you wished you had written. It’s kinda perfect, not with a capital P, but just in sentiment and in the way that it has all the parts of a song that make songs ring big and true and real and REAL AWESOME. “I feel like I just died in my sleep” they say, again and again, and it’s the best part of songs, because it’s lyrics and music meaning more than the music or the words can say alone. My god, Radiohead does this and Wilco does this and Hum does this and the Poster Children, when they are rocking on all cylinders—which happened a lot in the 90’s—DO THIS. A mark of a good band? I can wax rhapsodic about a song that probably doesn’t even crack my top ten of your good songs. Go listen to this band. Why aren’t you? You know what’s going to be great about moving to central-ish Illinois? Living near enough to Chambana that I can totally go see The Poster Children on the off chance that they decide to play again. Shit will change your life.
